1886 – 1928
- 1886 the young engineer Richard Klinger opens a small workshop in Vienna;
- 1890 Invention of the reflective level display;
- 1893 Opening of the plant in Gumpoldskirchen (south of Vienna);
- Klingerit creation®, the revolutionary calendered compressed fiber gasket material.
- 1922: KLINGER manufactures the first valve with an elastic, replaceable industrial sealing system for high temperatures. With the KLINGER piston valve, the standard industrial valve was invented.
1928 - 1957
- Karl Klinger take over the business;
- 1924-1931: Development of the industrial sealing segment;
- 1928: The development of seals for combustion engines, opens a new market segment – brake pads production.
- With the start of World War II, KLINGER factories are forced to switch to armaments production. In 1945, all transportable machines were dismantled by Russian troops. In 1947, regular production resumes.
1957 - 1984
- Hubert Klinger-Lohr becomes the new managing director of the Group;
- Expansion of factories and construction of a European distribution network with service 24 hours per day, 7 days a week.
- Development of PTFE industrial sealing materials and introduction of KLINGERsil®, is introduced, the world's first asbestos-free joint material;
- Large ball valves production on an industrial scale – KLINGER.
1984 - 2010
- Thomas Klinger-Lohr is the fourth generation to lead the company.
- 1992: KLINGER Holding is established as the parent company of the growing KLINGER Group.
- Automotive segment merger with German market leader Elring;
- Introduction of a revolutionary industrial high temperature sealing material: As KLINGER;
- Opening of new subsidiaries in Russia, Thailand and China.
2010 - Today
- 2010-2015: Heinz Scharl leads the company as CEO;
- Strategic acquisitions in target segments. Focus on services and organic growth outside Europe;
- 2015 – 2017: The Board of Directors of the KLINGER Group, composed by Daniel Schibli (CEO) e Peter Müller (CFO), assumes the management of the KLINGER Group;
- In 2018, Christoph Klinger-Lohr Joins the Board of Directors of the KLINGER Group as CEO;
- As the company celebrates its 135th anniversary in 2021, O Grupo KLINGER it's composed by 45 entities in more than 60 countries worldwide.
